The first time I stood on skis was at the age of three. Like many other friends I competed in FIS alpine races until 2001. In 2002 and 2003 I completed the training to become a ski instructor. In 2003, I also became a telemark instructor in Italy. Since 2004, I have been working as a ski instructor in Switzerland.
Biggest success:
1st rank O’Neill Xtreme, Verbier, 2006
The spirit of skiing:
Absolute freedom
The most risky experience:
Avalanches are most obviously the biggest risk in my job as a ski instructor and a freeskier. If I am not 70 percent sure that the snow will hold I am really frightened. Once, I carved a line in a face which I had a strange feeling about. Before I knew it my fear became a reality: I triggered an avalanche. Luckily I escaped pretty easily. But it made me think a lot about my passion and its dangers.
The most painful experience:
Presumably when I tore my cruciate ligament apart and when I hurt my meniscus in 2000. Just a wrong twist that put me on a hold for six months.
The ultimate day on the mountain:
First, the ascent and the path to the summit. Then, the boundless freedom to draw endless lines. Powder and crazy lines – the best ingredients for an ultimate day.
What goes through your head before dropping a big face?
I am totally concentrated and focused on my line. The most important thing is not get disoriented in case you make a mistake. And just enjoy without any limit!
Reminiscence about KÄSTLE:
I skied a Kästle ski at the age of eight competing in a giant slalom. I also competed in the 1995/96 Kästle sponsored “Italian Kästle Circuit.”
Three reasons why KÄSTLE:
Kästle is a legendary brand with an exceptional past. Now, there are motivated new people standing behind the brand with excellent product. I am confident that they will have success with their top quality skis.
What do you do in the summer?
Most of my time I stay in the Dolomites which has been my home since 1994. Here I organise and guide groups in the regions around Cortina d’Ampezzo and Corvara. The rest of the time I go paragliding, climbing, kite surfing and surfing – just the way I like it.
Music:
I like pretty much everything but I like rock the most.
Role models/Idols that inspire you?
There are a lot of skiers who really inspire me. I believe that I can learn something new every single day. Whenever I find someone better than me I try to make them my idol – in sport as well as in everyday life.
Passions:
Travelling, getting to know other countries.
